Summary of upcoming dates:

Post All-Star Break = Rule 13.02 in effect.  We have had much better compliance with daily roster setting this year vs 2021.  Please keep it up during the stretch run, even if you end up out of playoff contention.

August 17 REVISED - Temporary Roster Freeze @ 10PM ET
  • After 10PM ET, active rosters will expand from 26 to 29 spots (minors and injured remain at 15 and 4, respectively).  Initial claims to fill those spots begin with waiver claims similar to how we handled post-draft free agency this year.
August 18 REVISED - Expansion Waiver Claims Due @ 7PM ET
August 18 REVISED - Free Agent Market Reopens @ 8PM ET
August 25 - Awards Voting Opens
August 31 - Closing Day

August 31 - Roster Freeze @ 10PM ET
  • Non-playoff teams will be unable to add/drop.  Playoff teams will follow the waiver claim process described above (see roster expansion).
September 1 - Playoff Waiver Claims Due @ 7PM ET
September 1 - Playoff FA Market Opens @ 8PM ET
September 1 - Awards Voting Closes
September 2 - LDS Game 1

Reminders:
  • Rosters must adhere to the 45-player hard cap at all times.  This cap increases to 48 on August 18 with roster expansion.
  • All rosters must utilize specific slots correctly through the completion of the ACBA World Series, including all applicable maximums (26 active thru August 17, then 29 active beginning August 18 + 15 minor + 4 injured). Injured reserve slots are reserved for players with a red flag with white cross (the official MLB injured list designation as denoted by Fantrax).
  • Any unsigned players (both rostered and free agents) will be subject to minor league carryover thresholds at the end of the season. These players may be added and dropped throughout the season. Contract players can only be traded or bought out (to the extent a team still has its one in-season buyout available through May 31).

Team pages and Hall of Fame have been updated as of spring 2022.  We welcome any feedback or factchecking.

'22 - '23 winter meetings agenda

(**to be updated throughout 2022**)

Scoring - not explicitly laid out within the confines of the Rule Book. Several references made, but the actual point structure is housed outside of it. Proposal to formally add directly to Rule Book.

Commissioner / Owner Conflicts of Interest - consider gaps that could be addressed in Rule Book (i.e. fairness of trades involving the team the Commissioner owns).

Missed Draft Selection - clarify language re: highest ranked player (i.e. highest total projected points) for auto selection.

Duplicate Rules - now that Rule Book has been reorganized to better group topic areas, overlapping/duplicate rules should be removed or cleaned up.

Minor Leaguer Contracts / Values - clarify rules (i.e. Rule 18.11) to ensure language lines up with intent (i.e. minor league carryovers can be signed for $1 prior to Contracts Deadline; Fantrax generated salaries are utilized for minor leaguers drafted in March and signed prior to Contracts Deadline).

Offline Draft Time Allotments - proposal of slow draft schedule change from 2 twelve hour picks to 3 six hour picks and a six hour sleep. 6am-noon, noon-6pm, 6pm-midnight and then a 6 hour break.

Extraordinary Events - in the event of events outside our control (i.e. delays to start of MLB season, lockouts, strikes, etc.), proposal that with minimum 48-hour notice prior to draft commencing, Commissioner can shorten or eliminate offline portion of draft and move applicable round(s) to start of online draft with 5-10 minutes on clock per pick for such impacted rounds.

Injury-Driven Buyouts - proposal that a player bought out due to missing upcoming season (i.e. due to TJ surgery) is available via the next draft at a minimum of 80% of the upcoming season's salary cost per the terminated contract.

Buyout Waiver Process - clarify Rule 19.07 to explicitly state that, for in-season buyouts, such player must clear waivers and become a free agent before the previous owner can reacquire the player.  Offseason buyouts result in player being available in annual draft pool.

Injured Reserve Usage Pre-Opening Day - clarify rules to reflect that red flags at minimum are needed beginning Roster Management deadline until first pitch ACBA Opening Day, given MLB teams do not necessarily designate all their official injured list players until MLB Opening Day.
